**IMPORTANT NOTICE** Due to continued drought conditions, the Town of Mount Airy is requesting a voluntary reduction in outdoor water usage effective immediately, July 24th, 2016, until further notice.
The Town has a total of five wells that provides water to it’s citizens on a daily basis. Due to continuing dry conditions, two of the wells are struggling to keep up with the daily demands of the Town. In addition to the request for voluntary reduction of usage, we are also purchasing water from the City of Cornelia to further assist the wells in their recovery. These are only precautionary steps to help maintain adequate water supply for the citizens in the future. The Town is also exploring multiple avenues to alleviate this problem in the future. This includes additional wells and increasing the storage capacity.
